Who we are...

Harmony House is a second stage women's shelter assisting women and their children make the transition from a life of fear and abuse to one of security, confidence and independence.

We are located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Harmony House is the only second stage shelter in Eastern Ontario.

Mission Statement:

Harmony House is a second stage shelter for women and their children who are survivors of violence. We provide a transition period from crisis shelter services to independent living in the community. At Harmony House we provide safe, affordable housing for up to a year, along with a programme of individual and group support, accompaniment, advocacy and referral. Harmony House promotes the creation of a world where women and their children are safe and free from all forms of violence and oppression.

At Harmony House, survivors of violence find:

  1. Someone who believes them and will listen.
  2. A safe place to live.
  3. Other women and children who understand what they are going through.
  4. Help finding a lawyer, legal aid, affordable permanent housing and whatever else they may need.
  5. Time to rest, think things through and make decisions about the future.
  6. A chance to start over.
"Harmony House gave me a safe place to heal while starting over."
