Join our board
Our board of directors is a small group (up to 13) of engaged and committed women from a variety of backgrounds. We are always looking for new women to join us.
The board is involved with many aspects of Harmony House, from reviewing important governance documents, such as our by-laws and policy manual, to doing advocacy and fundraising.
We meet about 10 times a year (usually the fourth Thursday of the month). Directors are elected for two-year terms. We have a three-meeting probation system, so that we can check out prospective members and they, in turn, can check us out, to ensure a good fit.
Board members must be female, at least 18 years of age and subscribe to our mission statement:
Harmony House is a second-stage shelter for women and their children who are survivors of violence. We provide a transition period from crisis shelter services to independent living in the community. We provide safe, affordable housing for up to one year, along with a program of individual and group support, accompaniment, advocacy and referral. We promote the creation of a world in which women and their children are safe and free from all forms of violence and oppression.
If this is of interest to you, please email the president of the board. If possible, please include your resume.
